Would the laser counting technique apply to count cells in blood? In my lab, we are using an instrument that has a laser built inside to count dust particles in air flow. Basically, it is shining laser across the air flow and creating images that reflect size distribution and number of particles. Would the same technique be applicable to counting cells?
I worked with Dr. Christopher for a summer doing micro-fluidic analysis. If the project needs more resources he might be a good person to contact!
Do you think these chips will be able to detect other diseases in the blood, if programmed?
I think with current advances in computer science and (esp.) machine learning this project will be much easier to do.
